Pumpkin Carving

Yesterday we inspected the outside...Today we got our hands a little messy and inspected the inside. Every child got to feel the inside and pull out some guts! :)
"Its slimy"
"Yuck...its goooopy"
"There are seeds"
"Look at the gluts!"
"There are a lot of guts in there!!"

We decided on triangle eyes and nose and an overall HAPPY pumpkin.:)

Today we became investigators...pretty serious business if you ask me!
We investigated the outside of the pumpkin today..
"What are those bumps?"
"Why is it dirty?"
"What are those lines?" "How many lines does it have?" (22..we counted)
"Look it has skin and stem!!" "The stem is brown and hard."
"The pumpkin is HEAVY!"
"It's orange!"

I wonder what the inside looks like!!
"Ewwwwwww its goooey and YUCK!"

Jack-o-lantern Glyph

Each Jack-o-lantern represented a specific student. After we answered the questions to make our Jack-o-lantern, we practiced telling our table friends characteristics about ourselves according to the Jack-o-lantern we made.
